A Different Kind of Horse Power
Police in Manchester, England have come up with a novel idea to cut costs and be a little more eco-responsible.
They are going to take the waste generated by the force’s 40-member team of horses and use it to fuel the heating and hot water system in the horse’s stables.
The horse dung will be collected, compressed into bricks and then burned in a new specialized furnace.
My favorite line from the article has got to be…
Special testers were called in to test the energy levels in the manure, which were found to be satisfactory.
Interesting job.
You can catch more details about the ‘horse power’ from this article at Manchester metronews.
