A Hydrogen Fueling Station In Your Own Home

by Noel on February 9th, 2007

Yes, soon, it can be possible to have your own hydrogen fueling station build right in your own home. However, at present, such a project is still under development in Australia. But it does look promising through with the hydrogen fueling station designed to make use of solar energy as its source of power.

Experts have surely been thinking about such a project and they have also been discussing about it. Todd Woody from Business 2.0 took some points from Dr. Sukhvinder Badwal, a fuel cell scientist, and Woody has learned, “You don’t need a hydrogen infrastructure to introduce the hydrogen economy. The heart of the fuel station is an electrolyzer - essentially a fuel cell run in reverse. An electric current from solar panels (a home wind turbine would also do the job) separates water into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen is compressed and stored, ready for use in a fuel-cell car or an electric/hydrogen hybrid with an engine converted to run on the gas.”
