Carnival of the Green #20 is Up!

by Kevin Humphrey on March 27th, 2006

Carnival of the Green #20 is Up!The 20th edition of the Carnival of the Green is up and this week’s offerings are being hosted by Harlan and the gang at Greener Magazine.

My favorite has got to be Sameer’s post on the mileage of bicycles at Transmorgified. Sameer looks at how even though cycling is a human-powered endeavour, the food that we eat to power our bodies that power the bike requires fossil fuels to produce. In his own words…

Every time you ride that bicycle, you are burning some of the same energy which came from the fossil-fuels. Naturally this bears the question, “How many miles can you go on that bicycle for every gallon of gasoline you consume (indirectly… through the food you eat)?”

He then breaks it down and provides some basic mileage figures based on types of diets. It looks like it’s time for me to get back on the vegetarian wagon that I fell off of last year. Check it out for yourself at Transmorgified here.

    Hi Kevin

Thanks for the shout out and I am glad you liked my post. I am visiting this blog for the first time and I really like it. You have some amazing posts related to energy… a topic I am very much interested in. I have just recently started another blog to filter my energy related posts from other stuff. It’s called “Oorjaa” which in hindi means energy. This blog is going on the blogroll there as I type.
