Der Windwandler - Supplemental Windmill

by Kevin Humphrey on September 20th, 2005

Der Windwandler - Supplemental WindmillA German company is behind this product, coined Der Windwandler, and specifically designed to be used in conjunction with a solar panel system as a supplemental power gen source.

Many folks are adopting solar panel systems for their energy generation needs, but don’t marry that with a wind turbine system either because they don’t want a large tower and turbine on their property or are unable to do so because of local by-laws, etc. One is then faced with the prospects of extended cloudy weather periods or seasons with shorter and darker days and the question of whether they’ll be able to maintain their ‘off-the-grid‘ freedom.

The Windwandler is a solution to this dilemma. It’s elegant, low-profile design looks much like a weather vane and is meant to be mounted on a roof peak. Left there, it’ll spin away in the wind and provide the supplemental juice to hopefully prevent you from having to write a cheque to the dreaded power company in the winter months.

The Windwandler web site can be found here but unfortunately it’s all in German, so you’ll need to sprechen sie deutsche or try the Babelfish for an approximate translation.

Having tried to get information and prices etc from Windwandler, I now try you as Windwandler do not reply.
I am impressed by the rotor idea, rather than having a propellor windwill, and propose togo ahead with this should cost beaffordable.

It seems like Windwandler has vanished into thin air (not exactly what you’d expect). If anybody could tell me how to contact them, I’d be really grateful!
Meanwhile I found another address for COMPLETELY SILENT vertical wind turbines. It’s a finnish product and looks fabulous. Wonder about pricing… You can find it here: http://www.windside.com.

Interested in contacting Niek re Windwandler. I too have tried to make contact with them for over 2 years without any success. I’m a consultant in sustainability with several institutions and ideas for several large scale applications for such a design. So, please supply contact information for Niek re Windwandler, or give him my email: asonarwe@gmail.com - Fred McEwan, President, THE ASONAR GROUP LLC.
