Glass Bottles And Jars For Recycling In The UK

by Noel on February 1st, 2007

Bottles made of plastic may be the “in” thing in the field of recycling in Uganda. And in the UK, bottles are still the “in” thing – but this time around, bottles made of glass are what the latest recycling campaign is looking for.

Recycle Now, together with the Somerset County Council, is the brain behind the newest campaign on recycling. And this new campaign of theirs educates people about the advantages of recycling their used glass bottles and glass jars. The group also shares information on how much savings one could get in terms of energy and also in terms of resources if old glass jars and bottles were recycled.

“Glass is a valuable resource to recycle as it can be reprocessed again and again without any effect on its quality and performance. Our research shows that people are geniunely interested in the energy savings that result from recycling,” shares Cllr Hazel Prior-Sankey who is a member of the Somerset County Council.

    Hi,
I know of a unique way to recycle glass. I fuse them into spoon rests and trivets. People love these things, because they are so unique. Some people remember when it was real popular in the 1970’s. Check out my website to see the fused glass bottles that I have done: http://www.mastersglassart.com
