Happy Earth Day!

Well, did you know that today, June 5, has been celebrated by the whole world as the World Environment Day? Yep. That is so true. It begun in 1974 when the United Nations did declare that that date would be the day for the Earth.
“World Environmental Day is a celebration that was approved over 30 years ago by the general assembly of the United Nations, its purpose is to raise awareness about environmental issues, to encourage political attention to those issues, and to spark individual action,” exlains Brennan Van Dyke who works as one of the manpower behind the UN Environment Program.
And so this year, the World Environment Day comes with quite a timely theme: “Melting Ice - A Hot Topic?” It is also very much in-line with what the UN has titled this year. UN calls this year the “International Polar Year” and it is aimed at gaining in more information and learning more about the North Pole and the South Pole. Such is also in part of the move to actually know just how global warming affects both ends of our planet.
And as I end this post, I’d just like to greet you a Happy Earth Day! And don’t forget to continue on doing your share to keep our earth sane and clean.
