Have You Heard About Green Weddings?

Oh yes. There are such things as green weddings (honestly, I just learned about this today).
In San Francisco, a couple – Kristy Wang and Nik Kaestner – had their green wedding. And Kristy describes it by stating, “Every time we make decisions, we’re trying to decide what would be the least wasteful. We didn’t want it to be about consumption.”
So what happened was that Kristy’s gown was something that she could wear again when she goes to formal occasions or parties. Guests came in car pools using hybrid cars. The wedding banquet was held outdoors in a Japanese garden. The guests ate organic vegetables and fresh fish. The tablecloths were made at home and were later on converted into napkins.
It seems weird but it is the green way to do a wedding. And yeah, did I already mention that green weddings are currently making their way to become the “in” thing in the wedding industry? Well, now you know.

In Humboldt where I used to live there were green weddings. And this post made me think of the other kind of “green” wedding there. In one of the large Redwood visitor areas… darn, I can’t remember the name, but there’s a HUGE Redwood called the alter tree (shaped like an alter naturally) and all the couples who have gotten married there have little name plaques placed about in the woods. I’m not the biggest wedding advocate but I always thought that was so sweet.

Actually, I think that it’s a very good idea. Wedding these days can cost… the earth, so going green is a pretty good idea!

Nice idea. Very practical too. I mean, wedding is one of the most costly events there is and usually, the wedding gown just goes into a box and stored somewhere and won’t be used again. It’s nice to have one designed where it can be reused for formal occasions.
