Hide Your Solar Thermal Collectors
So you want a solar thermal system but you’ve got NIMBY neighbors who are terrified of having an environmentally responsible person next door to them? Here’s a cool new system from a company called Dawn Solar that hides the collectors under the roofing.
Dawn Solar utilizes specific metal, slate and cement roofing systems with their proprietary fluid-filled tubes beneath. Sun heats the roof, which heats the tubing, which then transfers the heat into your water or radiant heat system inside the house.
They also feature versions that integrate with solar electric (PV) systems to create high performance applications that produce both electrical juice and heat from the same roof area.
