How To Save The Environment Part 2

So okay, here’s the second part of tips. These tips would be those which you can do so as to reduce toxicity right in your very own home.
- Eliminate mercury from your home by purchasing items without mercury, and dispose of items containing mercury at an appropriate drop-off facility when necessary (e.g. old thermometers).
- Learn about alternatives to household cleaning items that do not use hazardous chemicals.
- Buy the right amount of paint for the job.
- Review labels of household cleaners you use. Consider alternatives like baking soda, scouring pads, water or a little more elbow grease.
- When no good alternatives exist to a toxic item, find the least amount required for an effective, sanitary result.
- If you have an older home, have paint in your home tested for lead. If you have lead-based paint, cover it with wall paper or other material instead of sanding it or burning it off.
- Use traps instead of rat and mouse poisons and insect killers.
- Have your home tested for radon.
- Use cedar chips or aromatic herbs instead of mothballs.

My name is Deborah Boschman. I am a teacher. I want to run as an MP in the Brandon-Souris riding when an election is called.
I am extremely concerned about the environment. I want to legislate change. I want to make it mandatory that we become as energy-efficient as we can.
I want to get Eco-Funerals up and running. I am into action. I am interested in the walk plus the talk. I want to do everything that I can to get my constituency as green as green can be. That is my goal.
I am trying to raise funds so that I can be ready when an election is called. I have tried to contact Al Gore and environmentalists all across the US. I want all the environmentalists from across Canada to converge upon Brandon, Manitoba.
We are located in the middle of Canada.
I have tried to get fast-food restaurants such as McDonald’s, A&W, Wendy’s, Burger-King, etc.; all of them to recycle. I want to legislate this. This should be mandatory. Also, this should be mandatory on all airlines as well.
West-Jet is the only airline to presently recycle and they told me how many thousands of dollars per year it saves their company. This is the responsible thing to do. They told me of all the incredible waste that they see from these other airlines in these major airports.
We must act. We must act now. There is no time left.
I want to submit your energy-saving ideas to our local newspaper, The Brandon Sun, so that we can take all of the necessary steps to really step it up.
These are serious times. Serious times call for serious measures.
Thank you for any assistance which you can give to me.
My phone number is 204-567-3586 or 204-728-8078 and my other address is Box 292, Miniota, Mb. R0M 1M0 until the end of June, 2007. My work phone # is 568-4757.
I want to do everything that I can. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please forward these to me. I want to make a difference.
Thank you.
