Ice In NYC Keeps Buildings Cool

by Noel on July 30th, 2007

The summer heat wave is sure making temperatures rise. And just like most cities, New York City is also suffering from the high heat. And buildings and skyscrapers are using up plain too much energy just to keep everyone cool.

However, what makes New York different from others is the fact that it does not make use of electricity to keep everybody in their buildings cool during the sweltering summer heat. What these NY buildings are doing is that they are using a new kind of system that allows people to save on energy.

And what do they use?

Tons of ice.

Using ice allows buildings to save on energy bills. They also do help out lessen down pollution which is certainly a great thing not only for the environment but for people as well.

On the new scheme, William Beck, the top person for critical engineering systems at Credit Suisse, declared, “If you take the time to look, you can find innovative ways to be energy efficient, be environmental and sustainable.” And he is quite so right.
