Iraq Lights Up Streets With Solar Power
Iraq has been a country which has gone through much. And because of the experiences that this country has had, the result is that they are now going through the process of rising up from the ruins.
And in the country’s city of Baghdad, people here do tell of times when they would go through shortages in electricity. Now that is something difficult to deal with for most of the stuff that people need in everyday lives uses electricity.
What the officials of the city have decided to do was use solar power as the source of power for their streetlights. That is indeed a real good idea for people now would not have to worry about walking through the streets when the sun goes down. Sajad Hussein is one of the people behind such a plan and he shares, “We are lighting up the city with solar power. People say it is a gift from God.”
And I can say that it is.

Hi, I am an Iraqi citizen and I appreciate these kind of ideas that help reducing the dependency on the oil and gasoline..etc, for generating electricity especially that my country has lot of sunny days than other countries (our summer lasts for more than 5 months in a year!) so we are now searching for reasonable replacements for making the life more natural and more easy after a lot of wars and destruction we suffered during the last 40 years. We are rising up from the ASH.

Hi Furat Obaidi. I do think converting to solar energy is a good step for areas with summer that lasts for more than 5 months. That’s a lot of untapped resource.
