Large Solar Project To Arrive In Brewery

by Noel on July 2nd, 2008

This coming Thursday, those who are around the San Antonio area in Texas could witness the start of a really large solar project. Though this may be the largest in the whole world, you could take pride in saying that you have seen the largest solar project in Texas being built.

This project is the largest in the mentioned state and it would be happening the Pearl Brewery complex. In a report, it has been disclosed that CPS Energy with Silver Ventures would be working together to get this whole project done. The solar panels would be installed in the Full Goods Building’s entrance canopy.

According to statistics on this project, the whole deal would mean having to install 200-kW solar panels. With that amount of solar panels taking in the rays of the sun and converting them into usable energy, the complex would be able to save as much as a quarter of their total energy expenses.

1 opinion for Large Solar Project To Arrive In Brewery

I’m a little of two minds about large-scale solar power projects like this. It’s good to see large amounts of grid-tied solar projects being installed, and these businesses seem to be able to afford it - or are taking advantage of big incentives. Certainly these large projects improve nonrenewable fuel consumption and give the local grid a big boost. Part of me still worries that too many large-scale projects like this will make it harder for small-scale systems to get approval, funding, or equipment. Small scale systems brought the solar industry to where it is today, and as a community we should take care to see that the popularity of large-scale systems does not prevent new 1-3kW systems from being installed in homes and smaller businesses. With luck and care, market forces will continue to push for larger supply of cells and lower cost to install all systems.
