Largest Solar Roof Goes To Tesco USA

by Noel on January 26th, 2007

It is indeed a world record.

Tesco USA, a chain of supermarkets that started out in Britain, has already ordered for the largest solar roof top panel installation. And as part of this, the group has chosen the Solar Integrated Technologies which is based in Los Angeles to do the creation of the mentioned solar panel.

The whole contract is said to cost $13 million. As per the solar panel, this huge one is going to be installed and used as part of Tesco USA’s distribution center in California.

Randal MacEwen is the head honcho of Solar Integrated. On the mentioned contract to build the world’s largest solar roof panel, he says, “Our BIPV roofinf system will provide a fifth of the depot’s power supply, and save 1,200 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.” And on the project, he states, “We believe this will be the largest roof-mounted solar installation in the world.”
