Less Trash With Solar Trash Bin
The Cape Cod Community College has its very own big and huge green monster and anybody who sees this monster is surely going to find a big smile plastered on their face. After all, who would not love to see a trash bin that not only collects trash but also compacts garbage with the aid of solar power?
They call the the green monster the Big Belly trash compactor and it is owned by the Cape Cod Center for Sustainability. With this in use on campus, the number of trash collections has quite decreased. And because the energy of the compactor comes from the sun, the college does not use up any electricity at all.
Big Belly uses solar panels to work as well as one battery with twelve volts. The latter is where the converted energy is stored. For all those who would be able to make use of the Big Belly, Kathleen Schatzberg, the president of the campus, shares, “When they leave here, they become part of the innovation and the economy.”
