Living Almost Off The Grid

by Noel on April 10th, 2008

Just imagine how much money Larry Tillman is saving. He lives in South Charleston and he has been installing solar panels on his home. In fact, according to a news clip, Tillman has slowly been adding little odds and ends to make his home not that dependent on the grid. Tillman disclosed, “I’m 85 percent off the grid so I have no gas bill and the electric bill is minimal.” And he is proud of what he has managed to achieve so far.

Right now, Tillman’s home makes use of the sun and the wind’s energy. He had started working on getting his home off the grid five years ago. But there is nothing really high technology with the technology that he has added to his home. Tillman declared, “It’s nothing fancy. Everything is just kind of off the shelf.” He has been adding little odds and ends which he had picked up from Wal-Mart.

So it sure can be done. Let’s all look at Tillman as a model whom we could emulate to make our homes off the grid as well.

It’s good to know that living off the grid can be an easy thing. Sounds like this guy took it slowly and just kept adding little by little.

Oh how I wish we were off the grid! Our energy bill has gone up 100% in the last year!
