More Earth-Friendly News From Google

by Noel on June 21st, 2007

We know that Google is our favorite search engine. But did you know that it has a philanthropic arm? Yup, it goes by the name of Google.org and I learned something interesting about it recently.

You see, Google.org has already informed the public about its RechargeIT initiative. This is a plan wherein they are going to support groups and individuals who are planning on creating and developing gadgets and products that would be friendly to our environment. However, RechargeIT mainly focuses on those products that would help “reduce greenhouse gas emissions and oil dependence”. And such would be made into reality through their support to groups developing plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

It is good news that Google, despite its being one of the largest companies in the entire world, is still concerned about our environment. If you remember, I have already blogged about the company’s headquarters using solar panels as the source of power for a major part of their whole operations.
