Nueces County Officials Concentrate On Environment
At press time, the Nueces County is already holding its National County Government Week. And as part of the whole celebration, the officials are not going to focus on traffic rules or maybe education or even safety. This is because they do believe that it is time that the week-long celebration would serve as an avenue for them to make the public more aware about the state of our environment and the public’s responsibilities.
Their theme is “Protecting our Environment” and on this, Betty Jean Longoria, who is the Commissioner, shares, “The bottles, the newspapers, cardboard and each one of our boxes had all of them. And it was up to us to try to put them into the different bins we have out here - so it was a lot of fun.”
You see, they have set out boxes right in front of their office and these containers hold various trash. They then do go through them and sort out what can be recyclable and what still can be used.
