PG&E Opts For Electric Autos Powered By The Wind

by Noel on March 5th, 2007

I certainly have not heard much about vehicles and automobiles that are electrically operated and would be getting its power from the wind. Although I have heard of wind being used as a source of clean and renewable energy, such an automotive invention has yet to come across my knowledge.

However, it does look like the Pacific Gas & Electric company of California has already gotten ahead of the future and is already planning on creating such a vehicle. The company does say that they are working on adding 4,600 more megawatts of wind power. This additional units of power would be actually used so as to give more options to California car owners. Yes, they are going to give them an electric car that gets its spunk from the wind.

The company also did say that the vehicles would be easy to use and maintain for during off-peak hours, the vehicles could charge up and with the batteries installed in the vehicles would then serve as the storage of the power.

Noel, I just recently started reading Unplugged Living on a regular basis though I’ve been interested in non-electric and energy efficient living for awhile now. You are doing a great job here. Keep it up!
