Purify Water, Use Solar Power
How do you purify water using solar power?
Well, it does seem like a seventeen-year-old student of the Churchill Community High School has found the answer. You see, Haley Robinson has invented a water purifier that uses solar energy and this project of hers has been set out on display at the Canada Wide Science fair where it reaped in awards and accolades.
Robinson explains her creation. She shares, “Solar water pasteurization is just a fancy name for decontaminating water with solar energy. It’s to be used in developing countries where there’s a huge health crises right now with contaminated water.”
Of course, it was not an easy battle for Robinson at the science fair. She even recalls, “It was a really tough competition. I was just trying to hold my own and it didn’t occur to me that I was going to win anything at all. I was happy to be there for the experience. I guess something clicked and they liked my project.”
