Safeway Goes Solar
As part of the celebration of Earth Day which is on its 39th year, Safeway Inc., a company based in Pleasanton, California, had converted two of its stores to solar power. This has just been done a couple of days back. The two stores which would now be running using solar power would be those in Fairfield and in Placerville. Safeway currently has 23 stores and these two solar-powered stores are going to be just the start, the company stated.
The company has also mentioned that with their conversion of the two stores to solar power, they would be able to help lessen the dependence on conventional fossil fuel which when used has been one of the major causes of global warning. Joe Pettus, the senior VP for fuel and energy of the company, also declared, “Throughout our vast operations, we are taking a closer look at how we impact the environment, clarifying areas for improvement and acting on them.”
