Solar Energy Gets Thumbs Up From Vatican

The Vatican is also going green and is going solar. You see, Pope Benedict XVI has spoken about keeping our natural resources as pristine as possible (remember him saying that we should “care of creation without squandering its resources and sharing them in a convivial manner”) and so some of the most important buildings in the city would be using solar energy. And such has been confirmed from Pier Carlo Cuscianna, an engineer of the city.
According to him, come next year, we would all find the Paul VI auditorium coming with photovoltaic cells instead of the usual concrete. That way, the power of the sun would then be made into electricity. That electricity would then be used to either heat the building during cold weather or would also cool everybody under its roof during the hot summer days.
However, the engineer did also disclose that some of the more historic, old, and holy buildings like the St. Peter’s Basilica would not be part of the renovations.
