Solar Plane On Exhibit

If you would be in India this Saturday, then make sure that you drop by the exhibit in Jawahar Kala Kendra. See, this is where a solar plane (a prototype at that) would be set up on exhibit. This one is going to be a good one to see for yourself because it has been designed to fly while depending solely on solar energy.Neelam Rapp Singh is one of the people behind the solar plane and he said, “The plane, weighing 100 kg and with a long wingspan for improved aerodynamics, has been developed as part of a project called Solar Impulse.”
Since this one is still a prototype (or a concept), it still has yet to undergo a lot of tests and experiments. One of the things that scientists have been trying to make better is a solar plane’s ability to fly during the night.
This solar plane is anticipated to take flight and go around the world come 2011.

I would be terrified to fly in one of those planes. What if it didn’t have enough energy to get to your destination. I hope it has lots of parachutes on board.
