Solar Powered Car for $5,560
I love to have a solar car someday once these are mass produced. With the current petrol prices, I think everyone should consider having one of these solar powered cars.
I was browsing Digg and found this post
The vehicle was debuted at the 29th Zhejiang International Bicycles and Electric-powered Cars Exhibition last week. The panels are not integrated into the car’s design, but rather stand above the car much like a typical roof-rack attachment.
No wonder it is inexpensive. It is made from the world’s cheapest manufacturing country China. I’ve already seen Chinese cars like the Cherry and I think a lot of people are benefiting from the huge savings they get from these low priced vehicles.
Now of course solar technology will not allow you to make those long distance 100+ mile road trips. The solar panels above the car can charge the battery enough for a 3-mile trip in just one hour. However, if the batteries are fully charged (around 30 hours in the sun), the car can travel up to 90 miles.
Normally, I park my car under a shade but if I have one of these, I would gladly expose this car to as much sun as possible.

Solar powered electric cars, are an excellent answer to the energy problems we face;even solar assisted electric cars are an excellent beginning in that direction.

At least you would be able to go 90 miles and spend practically no money. 90 miles in my van these days would cost me $15.

That sounds completely worth it. Great charging time too, and a good price. What’s the holdup?
