Solar Powered Streetlights For Dania, Florida
$1 million. That is just how much the city fo Dania in Florida has set as its budget for a new streetlight project. What is interesting about this is that the streetlights to be used are going to be powered by the sun and this has been created as such so as to lessen the dependence of the city on electricity.
Bids for the project have already been opened says officials of Dania. The whole project has been designed to use 124 units of solar-powered lights and, of course, the concrete poles that would be going along with it.
Solar powered lights have already been used by the city for several years already. However, those lights were employed in the city’s water plant and not in something as huge as a whole street. And the city is not going to stop with this project. A source says that the city is currently in the process of planning another 75 units of solar-powered streetlights to add to the 124 that’s still waiting to be put up.

Very nice! I love seeing governments starting to think this stuff through. Solar power is becoming more and more reasonable pricewise, so I hope to see more of this in the future.
