SolarFest 2006 This Weekend in Vermont
If you’re in the northeast US and looking for something to do this weekend, you couldn’t do wrong by taking a jaunt up to the Forget-Me-Not Farm in Tinmouth, Vermont and indulging yourself in a couple of days of renewable energy workshops and awesome music from the solar-powered stage at SolarFest 2006. Set to happen on Saturday and Sunday (July 15 & 16), the entire weekend festival is run on renewable energy - primarily solar with a bit of wind and bio-diesel in the mix.
SolarFest has been going for a few years now and has established itself as ‘New England’s Most Entertaining Energy and Music Festival‘. They offer a great mix with workshops on sustainable living, a children’s activity tent, an assortment of craft, food, energy and sustainable living vendors, and of course, lots of great tunes. A couple of this year’s musical guests will include Dar Williams and Ember Smith and this weekend’s keynote speaker will be the author James Howard Kunstler.
A pass for the full weekend is just $20. Vehicle camping is another $20, but walk-in tent camping is free and kids under 12 are free as well. For more info and directions, check out the SolarFest web site at www.solarfest.org.

I’m a college intern with this environmental business called “SpaceShare” which builds carpool systems to green festivals like this one. If you’re into solar stuff, they have carpools to a few solar fests. Check out the green events they support at the provided link.

Mary - That looks like an interesting concept that SpaceShare is working on. I’m definitely going to take a closer look. Thanks for stopping by and letting us know about it.
