Springing This Spring: San Jose Solar Cell Plant
San Jose, California. The location of the newest and largest (in the entire world) solar cell manufacturing facilities. This new one is going to be opened by Nanosolar. The company does claim that come the springing of spring, this facility is going to be open and functioning.
Looks promising. This is according the mayors of various areas of the state. In fact, these mayors are not only looking up to the solar cell facilities but also to the fact that some 200 to 300 jobs are going to be created.
Says Roscheisen, one of the founders of Nanosolar, “It’s clear San Jose knows how to deal with Ciscos and eBays – they understand the issues, the logistics, the transporation needs. And we can get a permit within a matter of days. Other regions would take several months.” Rhone Resch, the president of Solar Energy Industries Association in the DC area adds, “If they manufacture all 400 megawatts on site, it will be the largest solar manufacturing facility in the world. They are establishing a new benchmark with respect to the size of the facility.”
