Thursday is World Carfree Day
This Thursday, September 22nd is World Carfree Day.
All around the globe, with 1,544 cities in 40 countries participating, people will be leaving their cars at home and using alternative means of transportation to prove that it is possible to seriously reduce our dependence upon those oil-sucking beasts.
Worldcarfree.net, the on-line headquarters of the World Carfree Network, is a clearinghouse of information from around the world on how to revitalise our communities and create a sustainable future with resources for architects, planners, decision-makers and engaged citizens.
Now, not everyone can live without their cars. Unfortunately, public transportation can be horrible (especially in rural regions) so don’t feel bad if you can’t fully participate. Do what you can and at the very least, start trying to think of alternatives to reduce your dependence on the black slimy stuff.

Hey Jayvee! Thanks for stopping by.
That was unfortunate. I hope that not too many people had far to walk. I remember last year when there was the big power outage in the northeast US and parts of Canada, watching on CNN video of the thousands of people walking home from work in New York City. Just a sea of bodies on all the streets.
