Wind-Up Universal Remote Control

by Kevin Humphrey on December 23rd, 2005

Wind-Up Universal Remote ControlI don’t know about you, but I think there’s something a little pathetic about this device.

It’s a basic universal remote control for your home entertainment system, but it features a small finger crank to provide wind-up power. 30 revolutions of the crank gives you a full charge which will last seven days.

Here’s where I think it goes off the tracks…the remote will allow you to control six different a/v devices including your TV, DVD player, VCR, cable box, satellite box and an auxillary module.

Wow! That’s so cool! A self-powered remote for you to control how much entertainment gear? Hey, at least you won’t have to feel guilty using those polluting batteries as you suck up a few kilowatts watching Desperate Housewives!

Yours for just $24.99 from SmartHome.com.

I think I prefer my version of a home entertainment system. It’s called a lamp and a library card.

Are you arguing that your are inherently superior for not watching TV? Even a 12V solar powered TV eh? Ah well.

Not at all, Harold. I don’t consider myself to be inherently superior to anyone. I was merely trying to be sarcastic. ;)
