Windy Flower Power
The Dutch government recently asked some designers to come up with ideas for new styles of wind mills that might better blend in with the landscape. One group - calling themsleves 100MW Mountains - suggested grouping up to 10 turbines in arrangements like a floral bouquet.
I’m not sure what to make of the idea. While the hippy part of me thinks these are incredibly cool, I can’t help but wonder that we’ve got enough difficulties with NIMBY’s here in North America without trying to foist ‘bouquets‘ of turbines upon the populace. What do you think, fine readers?

*squints* From afar, they put me in mind of The White Tree of Gondor, hehe. They’ll definitely be pretty eyecatching, although personally, I still prefer the individual turbines.

Pretty cool looking, and perhaps they could have different colored props for a more colorful look. It does look a little erie. I am all for Wind power…free and clean.

The White Tree of Gondor - that’s an interesting correlation, Lynn.
Adam - different coloured turbines would be a very cool addition to the design.
Thanks to both of you for your comments.

I like the look of them, but we arent trying to beautify the coutryside with wind turbines we are trying to save the planet from climate change. I somehow don’t think theses will be economically viable to they ain’t fit for purpose. I hope a few of them get built as facinating sculptures though…i think they work as art.

They look beautiful!!! They blend with the landscape in an organic way…. but has the effect on wildlife been taken into account? As it is there are too many wild bird casualties from wind turbines (this is a serious issue especially in the areas that are on the routes of migration). These turbines look even more dangerous for birds.
