World Solar Challenge Update - Monday 9/26

by Kevin Humphrey on September 26th, 2005

World Solar Challenge Update - 9/26They have now completed two days of racing in this year’s edition of the World Solar Challenge in Australia that I mentioned here a couple of days ago. It appears as though the Dutch team Nuna III is well on their way to yet another win. They were the winners of both of the two previous runnings of this event, in 2001 and 2003.

Looking at the interactive map on the WSC web site, Nuna III has built a handy lead over the current 2nd place team, Sky Ace Tiga, from Ashiya University in Japan. Team Nuna III appears as though they are now south of Alice Springs and facing a primarily downhill run the rest of the way into Adelaide.

The Nuna III team, from the Technical University of Delft in the Netherlands, has got a great web site here that details not just this year’s but also their previous runs at the World Solar Challenge.

Here’s the full listing of teams participating from the WSC web site and the page with the interactive map that I spoke of is here.
